Netanyahu and Iran

The response by Binyamin Netanyahu to a deal which would remove the threat of an Iranian nuclear weapon for the foreseeable future betrays a desire to hobble the economic development of a neighbour.

Israeli PM demands that Iran recognises Israel’s right to exist as a precondition to any final agreement

Seems perfectly reasonable to me in light of the repeated calls to "wipe Israel off the map"

But if Iran is no longer capable of making nuclear bombs, then that ancient threat by a long-dead religious leader is surely irrelevant?

Netanyahu and the IDF have form. There is a consistent pattern of attacking economic development in Palestine. This is the most recent example, plucked from the Jerusalem Post, not the most liberal of Israel's media.

Of course, keeping tension high and on the front page does distract the population from the state of Israel's domestic economy.

Amadinajad in 2005:
"Our dear Imam (referring to Ayatollah Khomeini) said that the occupying regime must be wiped off the map and this was a very wise statement. We cannot compromise over the issue of Palestine. Is it possible to create a new front in the heart of an old front. This would be a defeat and whoever accepts the legitimacy of this regime has in fact, signed the defeat of the Islamic world. Our dear Imam targeted the heart of the world oppressor in his struggle, meaning the occupying regime. I have no doubt that the new wave that has started in Palestine, and we witness it in the Islamic world too, will eliminate this disgraceful stain from the Islamic world"

"... like a cancer cell that spreads through the body, this regime infects any region. It must be removed from the body."
Amadinajad on Israel in 2011.

In 2008, Ahmadinejad stated:

“ The Zionist regime has lost its raison d'ĂȘtre. Today, the Palestinians identify with your name Khomeini, your memory, and in your path. They are walking in your illuminated path and the Zionist regime has reached a total dead end. Thanks to God, your wish will soon be realized, and this germ of corruption will be wiped off."

“ "They gathered, organized and armed the dirties[sic], filthiest and most criminal so-called humans from different parts of the world more than 60 years ago under a false and void excuse and through making fake news and stories. They occupied the Palestinian territories and made the Palestinian nation homeless through their military and propaganda supports"

And where is Ahmedinajad now?

Well, the Washington Post reports of him making a political comeback in the near future. In the meantime we always have that voice of reason Rouhani to lead the way. For example, he recently stated “The Zionist regime has been a wound on the body of the Islamic world for years and the wound should be removed.”
They simply will not rest until Israel is destroyed. To aid them in any way to obtain nuclear capability is madness. You have to remember that these people do not think like western politicians. They are guided by a medieval book, which by their interpretation clearly states that Jews are to be destroyed. Just read it.
