Guido Fawkes is very exercised by Jeremy Corbyn's failure to label the late Qasem Soleimani as a terrorist. (In April 2019, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo designated Iran's Revolutionary Guards and Quds Force, which Soleimani commanded, as foreign terrorist organisations.) But is it correct to describe a state official as a terrorist? If so, then the term ought also to be applied to Russia's head of GRU who organised the Salisbury killings. Mr Pompeo should have no objection to the Israeli commander who committed war crimes in Palestine as a terrorist, as some Palestinian activists have done.
The irony is that twice Solimani has been on the side of the West, in fighting against Da'esh and before that the Taliban.
