Will we lose our Chief Constable?

I have not seen or heard Barbara Wilding's name mentioned in connection with the Metropolitan Police vacancy left by Sir Ian Blair. However, she has experience with the Met. and has not put a foot wrong as Chief Constable of South Wales. If Jacqui Smith and Boris are looking for a safe choice, their gain could be our loss.

Or our gain will be their loss....

Ms Wilding's great advantage is that she has not created any adverse headlines as a chief constable. The Mayor of London will surely be looking for a lower-profile copper than Sir Ian Blair. This is not the case with some of those who have been mentioned as potential successors.

We are in a situation in South Wales whereby, who ever ends up as MP, Chief Constable what ever doesn't get judged on their performance. Our MPs won't loose their seats because of a poor Chief Constable thats being imposed a Home Sec..

An uncle of mine was Robert Lawrence's puppy walking sergeant in Aberdare, many years later when the aforementioned Robert Lawrence came back to run South Wales Police, my uncle was asked if he wanted to meet Robert Lawrence - I can't really repeat what he said but it wasn't "yes"
